Tanah Lot is a temple on the West Coast past Canggu, and is one of the most photographed spots on the island. It has reached iconic status because of its dramatic location on the ocean.
Whilst the postcards may look beautiful, you certainly won’t be the only one visiting. Tanah Lot attracts hundreds of tourists every day, and when you arrive you have to make your way past street sellers, souvenir stands and food stalls.
One of Bali’s most sacred sea temples, Tanah Lot temple sits on a rock which has been eroded by the ocean over many years. The temple is said to be guarded from evil by the sea snakes that inhabit the caves below.
