surfing at Padang Padang- surfing in Bali

If you’re planning to holiday in Bali, the likelihood is that you either love to surf already, or you plan to start. You can take surf lessons, stay at a surf camp or at least mess around on a rented surf board.

Bali has some of the best waves in the world, with waves to be found on the West Coast, the Bukit Peninsula and the South East Coast around the Sanur area.

Surfing in Bali is at its best during the summer season, from about April to October when the big swells come in. The surf conditions tends to go off during the rainy season, when most surfers head elsewhere.

When the surf’s pumping, the main dilemma you’ll have is where to go, but the good thing is you’re never too far away from another spot.

Good places for beginners are Seminyak, Kuta, and Canggu, where you’ll find several surf schools and camps.

For those who are no strangers to surfing, there are plenty of reef breaks to choose from. On the Bukit Peninsula you have Uluwatu, Bingin, Balangan, Dreamland, Impossibles and Padang Padang. Further up the coast you have Airport Left and Airport Right, as well as Kuta Reef and Canggu.

In the wet season, the East Coast offers better waves, so it’s best to head over to Nusa Dua, Serangan or Keramas.
